Just found out that I am a FINALIST for the 2010 AAU James E. Sullivan Athlete of the Year Award. I am heading to New York for the Awards banquet on March 14. Great publicity for the sport of water skiing, even though I am a long shot going up against superstars like Cam Newton!! Lots of good things have happened over the past 18 months or so since this site was updated! I am going to be really busy getting things posted and it may take me a few days, but it will get done! I did break the World Slalom Record twice in 2010.....ran 1 1/4 @ 10.25m at the Red Bar Belgian Open and then ran 1 1/2 @ 10.25m at the Eddie Greene Open. I also broke the World Overall Record again. A lot of my skiing improvement can be attributed to the best ski boat on the market....the Malibu Response! Dave Goode is still making the best skis on the planet...and those Eagle vests & wet suits are keeping me afloat! Wiley Jump & Trick Bindings are the best on the planet....I use Masterline ropes and handles exclusively. I found out long ago that it makes reaching the next level in your sport a lot easier when you use the best equipment available! I was honored with being named IWWF Athlete of the Year for 2010, along with USA Water Ski Athlete of the Year, AWSA Athlete of the Year, and AWSA Overall Skier of the Year. I was also recognized outside water skiing by the Northwest Florida All Sports Association, who named me Amateur Athlete of the Year. Also, I made it as a semi-finalist for the AAU James Sullivan Award. I was the only water skier nominated and had to go up against the likes of Cam Newton from Auburn (Heisman Trophy Winner)....but just having water skiing included with someone like him is awesome. I am still training at Cory's Ski Resort and working as a pharmacist at Santa Rosa Pharmacy.... and we just opened up Emerald Coast Compounding....a new business in Santa Rosa Beach! I had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my left knee in December. Many thanks to Dr. Mark Aiken for putting me back together and taking care of me! Mark has been the USA water ski team physician for years and also serves as the sports medicine physician at the Masters water ski tournament. I have been in intensive rehabilitation since surgery with personal trainer Glenn Cruz, who I have worked out with over the past few years. He has me on an intensive training regimen using Russian Kettlebells...and it has paid off!! I am back on the water again and it feels great. Looking forward to the start of the 2011 tournament season!! Amazing awaits!
