Superstars History

2008 will be the fourth consecutive year for the MasterCraft Cory Pickos Superstars, which have been held each year at beautiful Shortline Lakes in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.  The site is less than one half mile from the famed white sugar sand beaches of Florida's Emerald Coast.

The Pickos Superstars will be part of the MasterCraft Pro Waterkski Tour in 2008.

The tournament is named after Cory Pickos, 24 time World Record Holder and a legend in the sport of trick skiing.  Cory runs the Pickos World Ski Center, along with his wife Rose, at Shortline Lakes.  The Pickos family own both lakes that will be used for tournament competition.

Cory has been a member of many USA Elite World Champion Water Ski teams, going all the way back to 1977.  He continues to compete at the highest level of the sport and is recognized as a World Class coach in all three events of water skiing.

The Superstars tournament was originally held at Lake David in Groveland, Florida.  The intent of the tournament was to hold an event with the best skiers in the world competing under the best conditions.  The Superstars  tournament was the original idea of Liz Allan, one of the greatest women's skiers of all time.  The Benzel Ski Center took on the responsibility of running the Superstars for several years.  Cory Pickos resurrected the tournament in 2004 and it has been growing every year, with many USA and foreign National Records set in slalom, tricks, and jumping.

The Superstars is a World Record capable tournament.  During the 2006 Superstars, the Women's World Trick Record was broken.  That makes six World Records set on the site since its inception in the early 90s.  World Records in Slalom, Tricks, and Jumping have been established at Shortline Lakes.

The complex includes three man made lakes designed for world class water ski competition.  Cory Pickos World Ski Center is located on Lake Adam and Lake Alexis.  The Superstars Slalom event will be held on Lake Alexis while the Jump & Trick events will be held on Lake Adam.

Competition at the Superstars will determine the MasterCraft Pro Waterski Tour Trick & Overall Champions, which are simply the best of the best water ski athletes in the World.

The Trick Event and the Overall Competition will be Cash Prize and the Trick event will be an Elite Ranking List tournament.
