U.S. Pan American Water Ski Team members Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Taylor Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.) won gold medals and teammates Mary Morgan Howell (Dothan, Ala.), Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) each earned medals on Monday at the XVIII Pan American Games at Laguna Bujama in Lima, Peru. Jaquess won gold medals in women’s slalom and jumping, while Garcia won gold in men’s jumping.
Regina Jaquess’ father just might have to buy another trophy case.
The five-time Pan American Games veteran and now 16-time medalist upgraded from her silver-medal finish in slalom in Toronto 2015 and defended her jumping crown for the fourth consecutive Games.
The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s Tournament Council has approved the pending women’s world slalom record of 4-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off set by U.S. water ski athlete Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) on July 6 at the Regina Jaquess Open II at Lymanland in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
U.S. water ski athletes Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.) won respective titles on Sunday at the Still Waters Pro/Am Team Challenge at Still Waters in Oconomowoc, Wis. Jaquess won titles in women’s slalom and jumping, while Gay won women’s tricks.
